Together she and her husband Richard have 5 children.
Patti Peterson-Balliet was born and raised in North Dakota. She attended the University of Mary in North Dakota, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1995. In 2010 she retired from the United States Air Force after twenty three years of military service. As a nurse she worked in a variety of positions both as a civilian and while in the military. While serving in the USAF she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing, with pediatrics as the specialty, from Arizona State University in May 2003.
She was certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in July 2003. As a pediatric nurse practitioner in the Air Force she was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Goodyear, AZ and Nellis AFB Las Vegas, Nevada until her retirement. After a one day retirement she went back to work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner as a contract employee at Luke AFB until 2014.
